  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for rolling.
  7. Roll dough into balls and then coat in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
